Wando shut down Ashley Ridge, 49-39, Tuesday in Summerville to retain its second-place standing in Region 7-AAAAA.

The Warriors trailed 10-9 after the first quarter but allowed the Swamp Foxes just 13 points — four in the second quarter and nine in the third — through the next two frames to take a 10-point lead into the fourth.

Ashley Ridge’s 39 points are the fewest Wando has allowed in any game this season. The Swamp Foxes entered Tuesday averaging 60 points per game.

Zach Miller paced Wando with 12 points, while Brandon Kinloch and Braxton Washington both turned in 10.

Jamal Edmondson led Ashley Ridge with a game-high 15 points.

The Warriors’ win keeps them just a game off of AAAAA No. 5 West Ashley for first place in Region 7. Wando (9-6, 5-1) hasn’t lost since the second day of the Roundball Classic in December. The Warriors host James Island (5-8, 2-4) Friday in Mount Pleasant.

Wando Boys record is 10-9 overall and 6-4 in the Region.
