Hi! My name is Hannah Swinbank and this is my first year at Wando High School. I am so excited to be teaching your children this year. I am from Lexington, South Carolina and attended Lexington High School. I went to College of Charleston where I received my degree in Secondary Math Education.

Course Objectives:

  • Students will be able to use symbolic reasoning to represent mathematical situations, to express generalizations, and to study relationships among quantities.
  • Students will be able to use functions to represent and model problem situations, as well as to analyze and interpret relationships.
  • Students will be able to set up equations in a wide range of situations and use a variety of methods to solve the equations.
  • Students will be able to use problem solving, representation, reasoning and proof, language and communication, and connections both within and outside mathematics.


Foundations of Algebra

Course Description

This course is the foundation for students’ mathematical careers.  Students will develop algebraic and 21st century skills through the use of videos, Google Drive, ALEKS and more.  It is the goal of 21st century learning to promote student autonomy by meeting students at their ability level.
