Welcome to Pre-Advanced Placement:  Two-Dimensional Design!

This course is designed for advanced students who may be planning art-oriented careers. The emphasis of the course will include skill development in the areas of conceptualized and aesthetic criticism as well as in perception and art production. Various media and techniques will be explored in different lessons and exercises throughout the semester. Students will be taught and encouraged to explore creative solutions to problems presented. Students will be motivated in every exercise through historical and student visual examples. Students in Pre-Advanced Placement will continue to develop and apply art criticism to assess their work and the work of other students. Participation is expected in ALL class critiques. Aesthetic questions and lateral thinking exercises will be incorporated to enhance critical thinking skills.
