Courses Taught

Latin I

This course will give the students a foundation in basic Latin vocabulary, grammar, and Greco-Roman culture. The goal is to have them develop the skills necessary to be a successful second language learner and to provide a solid grammatical, linguistic, and cultural foundation for further study of Latin. Students strengthen their proficiency in reading and writing through a variety of activities including, but not limited to, pair work, group work, written work, projects, games, presentations, art work, and reading comprehension. At the end of this course, students will be able to read at a basic but effective level in the Latin language.

Latin II

This course is continuation in the study of the fundamentals of classical Latin. Topics include pronunciation, basic vocabulary, grammar, syntax, etymology, and practice in reading basic Latin of classical authors.  The graded reading material is adapted from classical texts and cultivates an appreciation of Roman literature, history, mythology, and culture.
