World Geography CP is a course designed with emphasis placed on providing the student with an understanding of the major world regions and their relationship with the modern world. The course will closely follow the standards established by the state of South Carolina. The course will have a regional focus with emphasis on physical geography, historical events, human geography, and human-environment interaction. Each unit will involve exploring the political, cultural, and physical make-up of each of the world’s major regions including North America, Latin America, South Asia, East Asia, Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Australia. Students will use information to discern position, opinion and bias, recognize cause and effect, make generalizations and inferences, evaluate relevance, identify differences and similarities, evaluate decisions and course of action, think critically, and recognize problems and solutions.
