Finding ways to help pay for college can be challenging if you do not know where to look. On this page, you will find up-to-date resources, scholarships, deadline information as well as how to apply. We are always updating scholarship information, so check back often.

2018  Lucy Garrett Beckham Memorial Scholarship





● Must be a current Wando High School senior.

● Student must be majoring in education at the College of Charleston in the fall of 2018.

2018  PTSO Scholarship


$2000 (Three scholarships given of $2000 each)




● Must be a current Wando High School student.

● Planning on attending 2 or 4 year college or university in the fall of 2018.

2018  Mark Cobb Memorial/Ron McWhirt Scholarship





● Graduating high school senior (June 2018) in a CCSD school.

● Student’s parent or legal guardian must be a full-time CCSD employee.

● Student must be seeking admission into a technical, 2 year or 4 year college/university.

2018  Mount Pleasant Rotary Club Scholarship





● Graduating high school seniors

● The applicant must be a full time resident of East of the Cooper

● Citizen of the United States

● Must have at least at 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale

     *bias is towards applicants choosing to attend public colleges and universities located in South Carolina, but this is not an absolute factor.

APPLICATION PROCESS Scholarship applications can be downloaded at or through your school’s guidance department. Completed (TYPED) applications MUST BE e-mailed to PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. A brief note of recommendation from the applicant’s high school faculty representative and an official grade transcript should accompany the application.

2018  South Carolina State Fair Scholarship


$6000 (up to 50 scholarships awarded)



● Student needs to be full time resident of South Carolina in senior year of high school.

● Student plans on attending public or private college/university or technical college in the state of South Carolina.


*The fair annually awards 50 scholarships to South Carolina high school students planning to pursue their studies at any public or private college, university or technical college in the state. The $6,000 scholarships are awarded at an annual rate of $1,500 and are based on academic and extracurricular achievement, communication skills, need, and completeness of the application.

2018 South Carolina Federal Scholarship

Deadline February 21, 2018.


● Members of South Carolina Federal in good standing or U.S. residents eligible to apply for membership at SC Federal at time of scholarship application;

● Students with GPA of 3.0 or higher and in good standing with current school.

● Students planning to attend specialized/technical college/university on a part-time or full-time basis, or a traditional college/university on full-time basis.

● Student must be planning to enroll in a traditional or specialized/technical college or university within the state of South Carolina for the fall 2018 semester.



2018 Accelerate Greater Charleston

Who is eligible? Students who have participated in a Career Academy and have a 2.0-2.9 GPA. See your school counselor for more information and for nomination process.

2018 Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce “Joe Brinson” Scholarship






2018 Hispanic Scholarship Fund


$ 500-5000


Deadline March 31, 2018

Requirements: Must be a high school senior of Hispanic Heritage. Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for High School Students. Minimum of 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for College and Graduate Students. Plan to enroll Full-Time in an accredited not-for -profit 4 year university or graduate school during the FALL of scholarship cycle year. A U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligibile Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA). Complete FAFSA. Complete state Dream Act financial aid application (if applicable). Merit-based scholarships available for undergraduate and graduate students. All majors and graduate fields accepted. Emphasis on STEM majors.

2018  National Society of Black Engineers Academic Scholarship


Deadline: MARCH 16, 2018



● Graduating high school seniors

● The applicant must be an African-American, US citizen, and a South Carolina resident of one of the   following counties: Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester

● Must plan to pursue an undergraduate degree with a major within a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field, and must be accepted for enrollment into a STEM degree program.

● Must be a student in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (3.4375 on a 5.0 scale)

2018  Isle of Palms Exchange Club Scholarship





● Graduating high school seniors

● The applicant must be a full time resident of East of the Cooper or descendent of a past/present member of the Isle of Palms exchange club.










Coastal Community Foundation Scholarships

Deadline: January 16th & June 1st 2018 - Grant cycles recently changed. Coastal Community Foundation now runs two main competitive grant cycles in January and June.

Requirements: For current high school seniors in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Dorchester Counties. Applicant selection will be based on academic success, community involvement, financial need, and personal career aspirations. Before students create an online account, they should review the scholarship descriptions to determine which ones they’re eligible for.  In completing one application, students become eligible for all of the Foundation scholarships for which they qualify.

The Young American Patriotic Art Contest sponsored by the VFS Post 10624 of Mt. Pleasant:

Criteria: Eligible for grades 9-12. Art entries will be judges on presentation of patriotic concept as well as other factors.

Deadline: March 31st, 2018

Award Amount: National winners scholarships range  from $500 to $10,000 Young American Patriotic Art Contest Information and Application.


National Technical Honors Society:

Several Scholarships are available with various criteria and deadlines. Please visit, The National Technical Honors Society website for more information. Applications must be a member of Wando’s National Technical Honors Society. Additional member in DECA, HOSA, etc...maybe required depending on the scholarship criteria.

In 2017-2018, NTHS will award over a quarter of a million dollars through these  



Eligibility Requirements: In order to participate in the scholarship contest, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident

  • Must be enrolled (or accepted) in an accredited college or university

  • Graduating high school seniors who meet the above mentioned criteria may apply




2018 Walker Morgan Scholarship



  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in high school and plan to graduate before July 1, 2018, or be enrolled in college.

  • Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher.

  • Applicants or direct family members must have been personally affected by an injury of some type.

Deadline: May 31, 2018












2018  Lowcountry Chapter AFCEA Scholarships

             *science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) field*





● Graduating high school senior

● Resident of Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County

● US Citizen planning on attending 4 year accredited college or university

● Student plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in STEM field.



Deadline: March 28, 2018






2018  Society of American Military Engineers Scholarship Program

             *engineering, architecture science, math or related field*



● Graduating high school seniors

● Resident of Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County

● Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale.

● Accepted or confirmed enrollment in an accredited US college/university studying undergraduate engineering, architecture, science, math or related field of study.
