College Specific Scholarships

Check the college’s website you have applied to for scholarship opportunities.

  • Bessie Stephens Allen-Holmes Memorial Scholarship for SCAD

Criteria: Graduating senior(s) who plans to attend SCAD in the Fall of 2017 with a minimum GPA of 2.75.

Deadline: May 10th

Award Amount: Two $500 dollar or 1 $1000 dollar scholarship

Applications and additional information are available through the following link:

  • Allen University English Department Essay Scholarship

Criteria: Students who plan to enroll in Allen University in the Fall and major in English. Minimum 3.0 GPA and SAT/ACT scores submission. Essays may be written on any topic.

Award Amount: 3 scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000 dollars

Community or Civic Organization Scholarships

Minority Scholarships

  • AKA Sorority Book Stipend Scholarship

Criteria: African American Charleston County graduating senior who plans to attend a 2 year or 4 year college.

Deadline: May 19th

Award Amount: $500

  • Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Scholarships: 3 Different Scholarships Available General Criteria: African American or Black students

    • CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

Criteria: Available for any degree

Deadline: May 19th

General Scholarships

  • Tywanza Sanders Legacy Foundation

Tywanza Sanders was a victim of the Emanuel AME Church shooting. This scholarship honors his legacy and commitment to educations.

Criteria: Graduating senior who plan to attend a 4 year college, who demonstrate financial need and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Deadline: June 9th, 2017

Award Amount: $5000

  • Rev. E. L. Jackson Scholarship

Criteria: Minimum GPA of a 2.7, graduating seniors with a minimum of 2.7 GPA. Special consideration will be given to students with financial need and/or who have brothers/sisters in post-secondary studies

Deadline: May 31st, 2017

Award Amount: $1000

  • Harry J. Wamboldt Scholarship in Manufacturing, Engineering & Science presented by SC International Trade Conference

Criteria: Graduating seniors who live in the tri-county area who plan to attend an accredited college or university and study Manufacturing, Engineering, or Science

Deadline: July 17th, 2017

Award Amount: 2- $1500

  • Live Mas Scholarship

Criteria: Innovation, dreamers and passion. No test scores, transcripts or grades will be requested. Students must be at least 16 and legal US residence. Student must create and submit a video (2 minutes or less) that tells a story about their “lives passion”. Videos can be animation, testimonials, ect..

Deadline: May 13th.

Award Amounts: 100 awards, ranging from $5000 to $2500 dollars

  • Mt Pleasant Chamber of Commerce “Joe Brinson” Scholarship

Criteria: Graduating senior who resided in the East Cooper community who aspires to pursue a career in business.

Deadline Extended: May 2nd.

Award Amount: 4 scholarships $2500 each

  • Best Mattress Review Scholarship

Criteria: Graduating seniors who have a minimum 3.0 GPA (or will at the time of graduation) and who plan to attend an accredited college or university.

Deadline: May 19th, 2017

Award Amount: $1000

Details: Students will submit a short video (maximum 4 minutes) that answers two questions about the importance of sleep and ways to improve sleep. Students will also submit a google word document answering specific questions. See the following link for details.

  • Sinclair L. Joe Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: Students, or a parent/sibling, who have been diagnosis of a debilitating illness, who show financial need. Students must have a minimum 3.0 on the 4.0 scale and plan to attend a 2 year or 4 year college.

Award Amount: $500 plus a laptop computer

Deadline; June 1st, 2017

  • Peck Law Firm 2017 Scholarship Essay Contest

Criteria: Minimum 3.0 GPA and a US Citizen

Deadline: May 31st, 2017

Award Amount: $2000

Description: Students should submit an application and a 1000 word or less essay on “What effects will the election of our new president have on American Families?”
