Welcome to AP Language and Composition and Tribal Tribune! For the last 27 years, I've been fortunate to teach at Wando High School. I love literature, rhetoric and newspaper, and I'm looking forward to a new year of learning and exploration.

I received a BA in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and an MAT from The Citadel. I am AP certified in the state of South Carolina.

In addition, I am a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and the Journalism Education Association, as well as being active in the National Scholastic Press Association, Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Southern Interscholastic Press Association and South Carolina Scholastic Press Association.

Courses Taught

AP Language and Composition 

The Advanced Placement Language and Composition course is sponsored by the College Board and is designed as an intensive course of study for 11th grade English. Students taking this class will closely read non-fiction essays, speeches, and letters, integrated with novels, poems and plays with a concentration on American literature. The AP exam is scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2014

Newspaper Production I and II 

Newspaper Production I and II are classes designed to produce 9 issues of the
Tribal Tribune, the school's student newspaper, as well as design and maintain an online newspaper. Students are responsible for designing, photographing and writing all content for the paper and website, as well as practicing strong journalism ethics.
